House Built by Local Contractor Featured on HGTV
Dream Builder status was conferred on Hawkes Construction by the sponsors of the show, Dream Builders on Home and Garden TV, (HGTV). The National Association of Homebuilders selected Howie Hawkes’ company, Hawkes Construction of Ukiah for a segment which aired last month. This honor resulted from the construction of a house for George and Anita Speake. Located in Buckingham, on the shore of Clear Lake, the home was designed by Sonoma County architect, Obie Bowman. This contemporary house is over 200 feet long with exceptional siting which takes advantage of views of Mt Konocti and Clear Lake.

Hawkes Construction has been building homes and light commercial projects in Mendocino County for 25 years. Current projects include estate homes in Yorkville, Laytonville and an architect’s studio in Sonoma County. Also under construction are several barns including a horse barn and a bottling barn, which is on the drawing table for a winery in Anderson Valley.

Hawkes Construction’s work has been showcased in Sunset and House Beautiful magazines, The Home and Garden section of The San Francisco Chronicle, and the books, Patterns of Home and the New American House Book, Vol IV.

A video clip of the Speake house as featured by HGTV will soon be available on the Hawkes Construction website.
